Definition
Procedure text is a text that
explain how something works or how to use instruction / operation manuals e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax.  The goal of the procedure text is to instruct how to do a particular activity e.g. recipes, rules for games, science experiments, road safety rules.
2.      The generic structure of Procedure Text:
a.         Goal (purpose or goal)
b.         Material Needed (material / equipment / materials required)
c.         Methods or Steps (Method / steps) Note: In the procedure text in the form of How-to (“Anyway titled how to”), sometimes the material needed (materials needed) not included
3.      The generic features of Procedure Text:
a.       Use of imperatives (cut, don’t mix)
b.      Use of action Verbs (turn, put, mix)
c.       Use of connectives (first, then, finally)
d.      Use of adverbial phrases (for five minutes, 2 centimeters from the top)
4.      How to write a Procedure text:
a.       Set a goal, decide the aim.
b.      States the purpose of the text : how to make..., how to write...
c.       Mention the materials used or needed.
d.      Explain the steps to achieve the goal.


Task !

1.  Write a procedure text about “How to Operate Computer”. Your procedure text should be consisting the goal, materials, and steps. Consider the organization, vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics in producing your writing!

            2.  Make a video from procedure text that you have made!
